FSU High Performance Materials Institute
The Center for Materials Research and Technology (MARTECH) was established at Florida State University in 1985 by the Florida legislature as a multi-disciplinary program to promote education and research at the frontiers of materials science, and encompasses the research efforts of 31 faculty in the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, the College of Engineering, and related fields. FSU High Magnetic Field Lab
The National High Magnetic Field Lab is the only facility of its kind in the United States. It is the largest and highest powered of the nine magnet laboratories in the world. The lab is dedicated to providing research and learning opportunities to students and scientists. www.magnet.fsu.edu
FAMU/FSU College of Engineering
Although the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has been in existence for merely 23 years, this joint institution of Florida A&M University and Florida State University has demonstrated great success in educating engineers for the future, implementing outreach activities to K-12 students, and conducting research to fulfill the needs of society. Committed to its motto, "Quality, Growth, and Diversity," The College occupies two state-of-the-art buildings with 200,000 square feet of classroom, office and laboratory space, with another two on the drawing board to be completed in the next ten years.
